As things get closer to being in full swing here at the Manor we are excited to be finishing up several construction projects that will add more amenities for our guests. We are currently in the process of adding the final trim and accent lighting to the tavern room. This will include the lighting for the dartboard and will give the room an even warmer feel. For you dartsmen who have enjoyed the room in the past, this will make the games even more competitive and make seeing the bullseye a little easier. A new scoreboard will also be added so we can do away with the pen and paper that allowed the fudging of the scores on certain occassions.
In the next week or so we will begin the construction of the guest office area. We are building the desk and amenities counter out in the shop now and hope to have them completed within a couple of weeks. This will allow us to add a twenty-four hour beverage service as well as a computer, printer, fax and copier for guest use and is conveniently located adjacent to the guest rooms.
We are working towards upgrading the kitchen as well and hope to have this project completed sometime in late summer or early fall. This upgrade will allow Marco to fulfill his lifetime dream of weekend culinary packages here at the Manor. We will offer cooking classes exclusively for our guests along with your stay at the Manor. There will be several themes including classes specifically geared towards those who have busy lives and not much time for cooking. Other themes will include using fresh garden herbs(grown here at the Manor of course)in everyday cooking, culinary basics, and presentations of your meals for special occasions. Keep checking back with us here at the blog or at the website for this series of culinary adventures.
Lathrop Manor formerly a Bed & Breakfast is again a private residence. This 1744 home is a beautiful example of a center hall Colonial with nine fireplaces. The house, nestled in the center of the Norwich Historic District has a rich history and beautiful craftsmanship from the hand carved wooden beams to the wide board flooring throughout. It is inspiring to imagine the lives of those who have walked these halls before.

We are still celebrating football here in the middle between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots. But we are also looking forward to baseball. The Connecticut Defenders, Double A Affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, are starting Press Conferences and Coaches Clinics. Season opener is at home on April 3 against the Fisher Cats.
